Our Bible story for this week was Baby Jesus Is Coming. We read the story of the Angel appearing to Mary. It was really cool to read this story now since our baby could come anytime. The verse for the week was 1 John 4:8 God is Love. Toddler Girl had this memorized by Friday. The song was Away in a Manger and the poem was Mary Had a Little Lamb. Toddler Girl asked me to sing The Itsy, Bitsy Spider several times this week. She also loves to request Five Green and Speckled Frogs. I have the frogs colored and cut out. She enjoys taking them off the log as I sing.
The book of the week was one we own, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? Toddler Girl has this book almost memorized.
We started the Christmas Book this week. Toddler Girl colored the angel coloring page. I’ve noticed that she is preferring to stick with brown and yellow when she colors.
The color of the week was brown. The shape of the week was a star. We did a few crafts using the stars that she had colored and I had cut out from before. I taped two stars to a paper and Toddler Girl painted over it with brown paint. When it was dry I removed the stars which had curled from the paint and then stapled them together with the paint on the outside. So the finished products are the brown painted paper with two blank star shapes and a brown star. I think we may decorate the star another time. We had a couple of other stars. Toddler Girl decorated them with star stickers and we glued them onto a brown piece of paper.
We finger painted the number 5 apple tree and I glued the apples on. I ask Toddler Girl to count the apples each day. She is getting real good at counting.
We also worked on saying my name.
Our Bible story was Baby Jesus is Born. Our song was Praise God. I continued to have Toddler Girl practice her verse of the week, 1 John 4:8.
We made a manger out of popsicle sticks and hay out of some twine by gluing them onto a sheet of yellow (the color of the week) paper. Toddler Girl colored the baby Jesus from the template and then I glued it into the manger.
We glued the large square onto a piece of paper and then a small square onto it. Then Toddler Girl colored the poster with markers. She spent quite a bit of time on this project.
Lastly, we did two more letters. The Ll poster was decorated with leaf stickers since we didn’t get around to collecting real leaves. Toddler Girl decorated the Mm poster with an assortment of stickers that started with M such as Mickey Mouse, monkey, moose and moon.
We also did a craft at the library this week.
I haven’t decided what to do with our homeschooling once the baby comes. We might keep on going, slow down a bit or stop and take a break for a while. It depends on how I feel. I do want to continue reading a lot to Toddler Girl. But we might have to take a break from all crafts for a couple of weeks.
